Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was discharged from a Seoul hospital Sunday after recovering from abrupt stomach pains, a hospital official said, according to Yonhap news agency.

His condition was "not that serious and he was released from the hospital after receiving a simple treatment," the official said.

The 86-year-old arrived in Korea Wednesday for a four-day trip, during which he attended a security forum and met South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.

Kissinger was scheduled to head to Beijing on Saturday but postponed the trip as he was admitted to Severance Hospital the same day due to the sudden stomachache. Organizers of the forum said he left South Korea on Sunday, a day later than scheduled.
